My experience with Xiaomi air purifier Air Purifier 3H
I have been using the Xiaomi air purifier in our bedroom for several months now. In this article, I’ll inform you about everything you need to know about this nice smart home component and my experience with the Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H. I can already say in the introduction that this Xiaomi device is also like many other already presented devices from Xiaomi: they are generally easy to install and then just work. Without any problems or any restarts, updates, etc.
First impression
The Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H is comes in a rather large package and is actually not particularly small, but takes up quite a bit of space. However, without seeming annoying or oversized. Unpacking is then also very simple and the air purifier 3H is ready. As mentioned, the air purifier 3H is not exactly very small, but still very respectable. So my partner has allowed me that this may also be well visible in the bedroom. Thus, from now on the air in the bedroom is also very good and I can already look forward to the pollen season :-).
Quite large, but not clunky at all!
Design
I also really like the design of other smart home components from Xiaomi. The same applies to the air purifier. Especially also in comparison with other air purifiers, the air purifier from Xiaomi is inconspicuous and discreetly designed and can thus be placed well in many places. The design is quite modern, but it does not look overly futuristic. The case is of course made of pure white plastic and is well made
Installation
Before starting, only the associated filter must be inserted and the air purifier is ready to start.
The air purifier from Xiaomi is quickly and easily integrated into the user’s own Wi-Fi network with the associated app “Xiaomi Home”. Of course, this is not a must, as the air purifier can also be operated directly on the device. Without a Wi-Fi connection, however, it is not possible to control the air purifier conveniently from anywhere in the world.
Integration with Home Assistant is then also very simple and quickly done:
- In your Home Assistant installation, install the Xiaomi Miio integration.
- Then you need the IP address (give your air purifier a static IP address on your router).
- The next thing to do is to find out the API token of your air purifier. This is unfortunately a bit tricky, but then goes quite quickly 🙂
- As a Windows user download the application Get MiHome devices token
- Install and launch the application
- Make the login in your Xiaomi Home account
- and you will see the token, which you can now copy into your Home Assistant configuration
- Now restart Home Assistant and you can conveniently control the air purifier.
Functionality
The Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H has all the functions that such a device needs. I miss absolutely no function and can cover all my needs:
- A sensor that measures the number of particles or air pollution. (Our air is so good, however, that a value above 5 is hardly ever reached on the three-digit scale.)
- Three different speed levels
- One night mode (Absolutely silent and it is excellent to sleep with it)
- Schedule power on and power off
- Child lock
- Switching off the illumination of the controls
- Temperature and humidity
Conclusion
My experience with the Xiaomi Air Purifier 3H is very positive, which is why I can recommend it without reservation. After several months of operation, I have had no failures or other problems. Works absolutely flawlessly since day 1.
The device is not exactly cheap and the replacement filters are not exactly a gift either. But from my point of view, the purchase of this air purifier is worthwhile not only for allergy sufferers. All others can also clean and improve their ambient air this way.
