Extend Zigbee network
There are several ways to extend a Zigbee network. Basically, the performance of individual Zigbee components is already very good and a Zigbee network in an apartment or small house can be operated without specific measures. In a larger house or apartment with several floors, the stability and reliability can be increased with simple measures and thus extend the range of the Zigbee network.
Use powered Zigbee devices
Basically, any powered Zigbee device is also a repeater (there are exceptions). For this purpose, especially Zigbee socket adapters and also Zigbee lamps can be used quite easily or you may already be using them. If the existing powered Zigbee devices are not yet sufficient to expand the Zigbee network, you should try to place the devices more optimally. Often, just a few meters are enough. Or you put an additional Zigbee device in a suitable place. Note: If you replace a lamp and continue to switch it on and off with the existing button, then the power supply is interrupted in the off state and thus the Zigbee network is no longer extended. However, if you operate the lamp with a Zigbee switch, the effect remains active even when it is switched off.
Use Zigbee repeater or amplifier
These devices receive the Zigbee signal and retransmit it with increased strength. There are various Zigbee repeaters or signal amplifiers on the market.
Operate multiple Zigbee hubs
By using multiple hubs in the network, the range of the Zigbee network can also be extended as the signal is passed from one hub to the next.
Carefully place Zigbee devices
Make sure that there are no large obstacles such as walls or furniture between the devices, as this can reduce the range. Also, try to place the devices near windows or passageways to increase the signal strength.
Use Zigbee devices with high range
Some Zigbee devices have a greater range than others. If possible, you should use devices with a longer range to extend the Zigbee network.
