My experience with Eve Weather weather station
Measuring the outside temperature, humidity or air pressure has not yet been one of the pressing issues for me in my smart home. Nevertheless, I decided to integrate the information in the future or to have it available on my smartphone. In summary, my experience with the Eve Weather weather station is very good!
A little hint in advance: If you don’t have an iPhone smartphone, you can read on with interest, but you should know that there is currently no Android app 😉
First impression
After unpacking, I immediately notice the elegant and cleanly manufactured case. This can M(man) as confidently well visible attach to any wall and woman has hardly anything against it. The Eve Weather weather station is battery operated and can therefore be used completely without power.
Fits on any wall!
Design
As described above, the Eve Weather weather station is very nice to look at and thus fits on any wall. Likewise, the display is clear and very legible.
Installation
The installation together with the Eve app is done quickly and without any problems. Likewise, the Eve Weather weather station also integrates with Homekit.
Functionality
Thanks to battery operation and Bluetooth Low Energy – in combination with the rather newer Thread protocol – battery consumption is very low and you don’t have to search for an outdoor outlet when using the Eve Weather weather station. Instead, users can place the compact device anywhere outdoors – the only limitation: the range of the thread connection. However, since the Eve Weather weather station is only IPX3 water resistant, it is better not to expose the weather station to continuous rain. Mounting on at least a slightly covered wall, an overhanging carport roof, or a sheltered balcony is therefore a better choice.
Besides that, you also have other functioalities and advantages:
- Replaceable CR2450 battery
- High measurement accuracy (+/- 0.3 degrees Celsius in temperature)
- Very high data protection
Conclusion
My experience with the Eve Weather weather station is good, it looks good and does what it is supposed to do. A disadvantage is certainly that this is only compatible with Apple Home kit, does not rely on the Zigbee network and thus, to my knowledge, can not be connected to Home Assistant.
oh, who is now still interested in the price: With just under 100 francs you are there…
